Beadboard and Trim Installation

Here’s how to transform your normal bathroom into an attention-grabbing space all in one weekend.

Procedures:

  1. Decide on the height you want for the beadboard. Once you decided, strike a level line across the wall. Measure the first piece along the side wall.
    Advice: The paneling should be acclimatized to the place where it will be installed at least 24 to 48 hours before installation.
  2. Use a circular saw to cut the beadboard and add some construction adhesive on the back
  3. Place beadboard on the wall and align it up with the guide. Use brad nailer to secure the beadboard paneling and nail the corners and edges.
    Tip: A space of 1/16” should be left between panels to allow for expansion during periods of increased humidity.
  4. The next piece goes on the sink wall. You need to measure and mark it for the holes for the drainage and supply routes.
  5. Use hole-saw attachment on the drill to make a hole.
  6. Put the beadboard up through drain pipes and supply lines, and attach it with brad nailer.
  7. Measure, cut, and install the rest of the beadboard pieces around the room.
  8. Use miter saw to cut the chair railing and install it along the top of the beadboard.
    Tip: Take into account the medium-density fiber board if you are looking for a good alternative to wood molding. This won’t distort or crack and it come pre-primed and ready to paint.
  9. Use caulk to fill the exposed nail hole and any spaces that are not entirely aligned.
  10. Apply first coat of drywall compound to the wall. Rub down any uneven spots and add the second coat of mud, lighter than the first.
